SubTera is delighted to announce the award of a co-funded project to develop a handheld version of its corrosion under insulation (CUI) inspection technology.
This innovative project will be co-funded by the UK’s Oil & Gas Technology Centre (OGTC) and delivered in partnership with Spirit Energy.
Commenting on the project, David Haskett, CEO at SubTera, said “We’re delighted to be working with the OGTC and Spirit Energy to develop our handheld inspection system, which we believe will become a key inspection tool for maintenance and inspection engineers. Our technology has the potential to significantly reduce inspection costs while helping to improve overall asset integrity”.
The Oil & Gas Technology Centre was established in October 2016 with £180 million funding as part of the Aberdeen City Region Deal. Its goal is to help maximise the economic recovery from the UK continental shelf, anchor the supply chain, and create a culture of innovation in the region. As an industry-led research and knowledge organisation, the Oil & Gas Technology Centre is backed by both the UK and Scottish governments to fund and direct projects that help to unlock the full potential of the UK North Sea.
Spirit Energy is an independent company, that was created in 2017, to combine a complementary mix of producing and development assets. Spirit Energy is energised by the pressing need to rethink the way the sector operates and its place within it. Today, its team of more than 800 people is committed to the development of oil and gas reserves in Europe.
